The trucks of the Canódromo Meridiana

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal
🎙️ Collective documentation

The company that managed the Canòdrom de la Meridiana was the same as the one that managed the Pabellón, the Canòdrom at Plaça Espanya. The dog kennels were located in Santa Coloma, and trucks were used to transport the kennels to the Canòdroms. These trucks were maintained until the last moment and were of the Pegaso and Ebro brands. However, this photograph is from Montjuïc.

What was the route of the dogs? There were owners who had many specimens, while others had many fewer. Most of them were kept in the kennels in Santa Coloma. The race director requested participating greyhounds by combining the different categories of greyhounds. Afterwards, he contacted the owners, and they transported the greyhounds to the Canòdroms. The animals arrived at least a couple of hours before the race. When they arrived, they were weighed on scales as a safety check, always in the presence of a veterinarian. Therefore, the Canòdroms were not the owners of the greyhounds. The owners received a prize rate based on the greyhound's ranking in the race: from first to third place, staggered prizes. From fourth to sixth place, the same prize. It is also noted that the owners paid the rent and care costs of the kennels in Santa Coloma.

⚙️ Methodology

Photography collective documented by residents participating in the Jornada de Documentació Col·lectiva de la Nit de Memòries, held on september 30th at the Canòdrom.
