The Derby at the Canòdrom

The photograph was provided by the former manager of the Canòdrom, Josep Navarro, who held the position from 1996 to 2006. Before working at the Canòdrom de la Meridiana, he worked at the Canòdrom in Plaça Espanya. He started there when he finished his compulsory military service. In the photograph, we see a Derbi, one of the most important greyhound racing events that took place at the Canòdrom. As these were the most relevant races, the Guàrdia Urbana was also invited to parade. One of the participants in the Collective Documentation Day jokes: "When we were kids, we used to sneak into the Canòdrom to see if the hare would lose because it always won!"
